Stephen Appiah: Thanks to all my fans and well wishers for your support

Ghana's inspirational captain Stephen Appiah has said a big thank you to all his fans and well wishers who have been supporting him with encouraging words in the last year or so.

Stephen who has been out of action for a while has admitted at times he reads fans messages to keep him going. The messages have been one of the ways he has survived through the difficult moments.

Thousands of people all over the world have been sending encouraging and well wishing words through his official website www.stepapp.com and through his friends.

Speaking to the stepapp team Stephen said ''I cannot believe the fans and my friends still care about me so much to keep sending me get well soon messages''

'I must confess that through some of the tough times, I kept reading fans messages and that pushed me to keep stepping app. Even today loads of messages have been coming through and its unbelievable'

'I cannot respond to all of them and the team have been working hard to post some on my website but I can assure everyone that I read them all the time and will like to say a BIG THANK YOU to you all'

'The messages have been coming from Ghana, Turkey, China, UK, Germany, Australia, Italy and I was surprised to get one from Greenland. All over the world people have been wishing me well and I am sincerely touched by the messages

'I cannot thank my fans, friends and family enough for helping me through thick and thin with their prayers and kind words and hopefully once I am given the all clear by the doctors, I will see them all again''

Just before he left this short interview for his afternoon session in the gym, Stephen signed off by telling one of the stepapp team members

'Please thank the GFA and my Black Stars colleagues for all they have done for me in the last year or so. I hope to repay them when I am given the all clear'.

Stephen who was with the Black Stars during CAN 2008 in Ghana has been working on recovering from his long term injury and hopes to return to action as soon as he is given the all clear

He has spent months commuting between, Switzerland and Italy for treatment.

Doctors have not set a date for his return to action.
