Stephen Appiah made his debut for Serie A new comers Cesena FC as they held AS Roma to a 0-0 draw at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday night
Stephen featured for 72 minutes before he was substituted and it was an impressive performance from him and the whole Cesena team as they worked hard and battled to earn a point away to the mighty AS Roma
It is a bit too early to say he is back to his best but he showed glimpses of the old Stephen Appiah and his work rate was second to none
After the game his coach shook his hands in appreciation of what he had contributed and no doubt the whole team will feel they have worked hard and deserve the point they got
After the game Stephen spoke to his personal website and was thrilled with the performance and result
'I am very happy for the team and for everyone connected with Cesena FC for a fantastic debut in Serie A and for the well earned point'
'This is not an easy place to come for any team let alone a new Serie A team like ours but we worked hard and didnt give them a chance to play the way they normally do'
'Everyone worked hard for this point and I cannot praise them enough. We didnt panic when we were under pressure and could have even taken all three points towards the end but am happy with our Seria A start and hopefully we can carry on and get better through the season' he concluded
Cesena face AC MIlan at home after the international break and Stephen is already looking forward to that game
