STEPHEN APPIAH: 'I AM PROUD OF THE BLACK STARS'

Ghana Black Stars failed to win the African Cup of Nations losing 1 - 0 to Egypt who racked up a record seven African Cup of Nations wins

But the nation's inspirational captain Stephen Appiah has urged them to hold their heads up high because they have achieved the unexpected and have made all Ghanaians proud

'What the Stars have achieved is beyond belief and almost a fairy tale. After all the injuries and withdrawals most people didnt give them a chance to go all the way'

'However they stuck to their game plan and showed character and determination to prove that we are a force to be reckoned with'

'We all urged them to show belief, and game after game you could see they were growing in confidence and proved that when you work hard you can achieve a lot'

'I hope the players are not too disappointed about the loss because Egypt are an accomplished team and have expereinced players who have been there and done it. They know how to finish off games and cruelly did that yesterday'

'But the Black Stars showed that Ghanaian football is healthy and I am proud of them. Well done to you all and massive congratulations' he concluded
